The Flatlandia project.
The FLATLAND project is inspired by the 1884 fantastic science fiction novel of the same name, Flatland Romance of Many Dimensions, written by Edwin A. Abbott, a very popular story, now considered a classic of fantastic literature, because it deals with a very original point of view the concept of a multi-dimensional universe and aims to create smart, captivating, emotional products, suitable for a young audience, but which are nevertheless attractive to a wider audience; useful, simple but communicative objects, the perfect gifts because they are intelligent, offered at an affordable price that reflects the spirit of QIAD. The brief was born from an idea of the Creative Director of the Lab Alessandro Gorla, who actively participated in the creation of his own line of products and personally selected all the published projects.
Flatland sees the constant involvement of young Made in Quasar designers and their teachers who want to express their creativity in order to define a collection of products conceived so that the main components of each product are flat, to then be assembled in a few moves by the user, taking on a 3-dimensional appearance. The production technologies used are those available within the Q-lab (filament and / or resin 3D printing, CNC milling, thermoforming, laser cutting, UV printing) and the materials used are those typical of a rapid prototyping laboratory, revised in a sustainable manner . The products are vacuum packed using biocompatible packaging.
